Mostly Treats!

During Trick or Treating on October 31st, 2009 in Milwaukee, WI. a wonderful thing happened...

Not only were the kids in the Riverwest neighborhood given sweet treats, they were given a little info on the Polish Falcons Nest 725 which resides right in their neighborhood!

all spent some time on Halloween Day to pack treats with a little note in them to hand out to the kids and their parents.

It turned out to be a wonderful time seeing all the kids (and even some parents) dressed up and braving the cold, windy conditions.

What was especially gratifying was how polite the kids were with the "thank you's" and how many dad's came with their kids to help out!

After the giveaway was over, it was time to relax to some "scaryokie" in the warm indoors. Joined by Dorothy we had a great time singing, or at least trying to. Wink

A surprise visit by Nest 725 President: Marian Hansen just added to the evenings' enjoyment!

I want to personally thank those who, once again, came through with the help to get the word out on one of Riverwest's "best kept secrets". Your involvement made this a really fun time, and I hope we can make it an annual event!

Polish Name Days

Yesterday 2012-02-06 : Doroty Bogdana Pawla Today 2012-02-07 : Ryszarda Teodora Tomorrow 2012-02-08 : Hieronima Sebastiana ........In Poland, name days (Polish: imieniny) are widely celebrated, & most calendars contain the names celebrated each day. Celebrations in Poland traditionally involve a gathering of friends & family at the celebrant's home at the dinner table, followed by drinking and socializing, similarly to birthday celebrations. The song "Sto lat" is sometimes sung. Children, and often adults too, receive presents, just like on their birthday.
